Public Hearing for Proposed District Map
Location
As you know, congressional, state, and county political districts are being revised this summer in accordance with the 2010 Census data. There will be two opportunities in the coming week to have input on these districts.
First, at its regularly scheduled meeting at 5 pm on Thursday, August 4, 2011, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing regarding the proposed county district map. Click here for a copy of the proposed county district map. Please attend to participate in this public hearing.
Secondly, the Forsyth County Republican Party, the Forsyth County Democratic Party, and the Forsyth County Tea Party are co-sponsoring a public meeting regarding the upcoming reapportionment of political districts. This meeting will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Forsyth County Administration Building, located at 110 East Main Street, Suite 220, Cumming, Georgia 30040. Doors to the auditorium will open at 6:00 pm, and the event will begin at 6:30 PM.
The purpose of this forum is to facilitate public discussion of Forsyth County citizens' desires in the formulation of congressional, state senate, state house, and county districts. The meeting will be facilitated by an independent, non-resident of Forsyth County. The public will be allowed to make comments, and the facilitator will assist in synthesizing a list of major goals the community desires from the reapportionment process.
AS THIS IS A JOINT MEETING, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE HAVE LOTS OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ATTEND! WE DON'T WANTOUR VIEWS DROWNED OUT AT THIS MEETING!
If you are interested in participating, but unable to attend, you may email inquiries and suggestions regarding these district maps toforsythredistricting@gmail.com
Best regards,
Ethan Underwood, Chairman
